What can I expect next?
Once we receive your details, a member of our team will review the information provided and arrange to speak with you to understand your situation better.
We may need to request additional information before or during this stage.
During our initial discussion, we will work with you to understand the reason you need help and determine whether you are homeless or at risk of homelessness. We will explore immediate actions to prevent this. In most cases, we will need proof that you are at risk of or already homeless, such as an eviction notice (e.g. a section 21) or communication from the person asking you to leave your current home. There are exceptions, and the person supporting you will assist with this.
If we determine that you are not homeless or at risk of homelessness, we will still provide advice, guidance, and direct you to other sources of help.
If the assessment finds that you are homeless or at risk of homelessness, your case will be assigned to one of our Homeless Services Officers. They will work with you to understand the reasons for your homelessness and any underlying issues. Together, we will develop a personal housing plan based on your needs, considering all suitable housing options, including private rented accommodation.
Where possible and appropriate, we will try to help you remain in your home. Therefore, it is crucial to contact us as soon as you feel you may need assistance.
