The Wolverhampton Outreach Service offers two strands to our SEMH suppport. The first is through practitioner led support for referrals made by schools. The second is through our training offer known as WELL.

SEMH referrals from schools include those where:

  • The child's behaviour is disrupting their own learning and that of others around them
  • The child is self-harming or displaying self-injurious behaviours
  • The child has expressed suicide ideation or intent
  • The child has attachment difficulties or has experienced trauma
  • The child has ADHD
  • The teacher is concerned that the child is displaying behaviours that would be linked to difficulties with mental health (such as depression)
  • The teacher is generally concerned about the emotional health and wellbeing of a child, including their communications and relations with others

In these circumstances the Wolverhampton Outreach Team would suport schools in accessing the 'Getting it Right' approach, outlined further here: http://www.wves.wolverhampton.gov.uk/ and available as a download in our downloads section, along with two key resources - an ABC chart and an Environmental checklist.

For schools that would like training on Wellbeing and emotional health, we offer the WELL programme.

WELL stands for Wellbeing and Emotional Literacy Leaders.

This is up to 10 hours of FREE bespoke training for schools, delivered alongside a WELL passport that enables schools to implement the new 2020 RSHE curriculum and the recommendations set out in the new Character Education curriculum.

Amongst others the topics covered include:

  • Developing self esteem
  • Responding to depression
  • Understanding attachment and early trauma
  • Responding to self-harm and suicidal thoughts
  • Understanding sensory needs and their impact on behaviour
  • Managing low level disruption
  • Responding to anxiety in the classroom

This training can be delivered to whole staff or a selected group in your own school, but also watch out for further training dates on our CPD page.

Please find further information about this training in the Downloads section.
