Items in our loan library are primarily for children who have sensory or physical needs. The items can be loaned for up to half a term, so that teachers can evaluate the effectiveness of the item in meeting the child's needs prior to purchasing.
Items in the loan library include:
- Small sensory items (e.g. squishies, resistance bands, lycra body sock)
- Larger sensory items (e.g. wobble cushion, weighted items, dark tent)
- Books about a range of SEND

A wobble cushion is a disc shaped air cushion which is designed to reduce back pain and improve a child’s posture. The cushion can also be used for standing and balancing exercises, which helps to build ankle strength and core stability.
When can a wobble cushion be used?
A wobble cushion can be used at home or in schools to promote correct posture and increase core stability. The cushion is particularly effective for kids with Attention Deficit Disorder as it can help reduce fidgeting and encourage 'active sitting'.
How does the wobble cushion work?
The rounded design of the cushion means that the user continuously uses their supporting muscles which results in more powerful and firmer core muscles.

A versatile step that is designed to make daily activities such as getting in and out of the bath easier. It is height adjustable by adding or taking away layers. The steps consist of a large surface area and have non slip pads underneath to help prevent it moving allowing extra safety for the user.
When and where can they be used?
Although sold as ‘bath’ steps, these steps are very versatile and can be used to aid getting on and off toilets, getting up to the sink, getting in and out of a bed and of course getting in and out of the bath.
They can also be used alongside a toilet frame but may need to be turned lengthways in order to effectively fit inside the frame.

A children’s toilet frame is designed to give additional support to a child when going to the toilet. The child is able to use the sturdy frame to lower themselves steadily down to the toilet and then push themselves back up and off the toilet. It is height adjustable so will also grow as the child grows.
When can a frame be used?
The toilet frame can be fitted around most toilets as it is height adjustable and not fixed to the floor. It is used when a child has the ability to be able to lower and push with equal force through both arms. The frame can be used in conjunction with steps. On occasions the steps will need to be turned lengthways to fit effectively through the frame.
