The aim of the service is to deal with crisis situations that cannot wait until the next working day.

If an adult or child is at risk of immediate serious harm, that cannot wait to be reported until the next working day, please call us on 01902 552999.
Professionals will be asked to follow up with an EMARF for children within an hour. If any professionals are raising Adult safeguarding concerns; they will be asked to complete a concern & notification referral form (SA1).

- Monday to Thursday 5.00pm to 8:30am
- Friday 4.30pm to Monday 8:30am
- 24-hour service at weekends

What happens when you call us?
Your call will be answered by a 24-hour control call handler who will need the name, date of birth and address of the person you are calling about as well as your phone number. They will pass this information to the social worker or Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) who will contact you to gather more detailed information.
What can you expect?
The teams working out of office hours are comprised of highly qualified social workers, AMHPs and support workers, who have extensive skills and knowledge in handling emergency out of hours situations. They handle a high volume of emergencies and will prioritise your call based on assessed need. They will take the appropriate action with your call. This may mean providing advice and information to keep the situation safe until the next working day and will only arrange visits in urgent situations.
For safeguarding referrals, professionals will be expected to follow up the call with a completed EMARF (for Children), within an hour, or an SA1 (for Adults).
All details given to the social worker/AMHP are passed on to the relevant social work team the next working day.
