Councillor Ian Brookfield, Leader of City of Wolverhampton Council, said: “We’re thrilled to be offering the city’s children and young people hundreds of brilliant events and activities organised by a host of fantastic local organisations this summer.
“One of the council’s top priorities is to give children and young people the best possible start in life and a big part of that is to ensure that there is a comprehensive offer for them during the school holidays.
“So we are delighted that by working with city partners and with funding from the council and the Department of Education, we can deliver another fun packed programme, ensuring that opportunities are available and accessible in every area of Wolverhampton, with hundreds of them free of charge.
“There’s a lot going on, so please take a look and get involved in the Yo! Summer activities.”
Councillor Chris Burden, Cabinet Member for Education, Skills and Work, added: “We are very grateful to all schools who are helping us to promote Yo! Summer, by displaying banners and giving out fliers to families.
“After the success of last summer and this year’s half-term and Easter holiday programmes, we knew that we just had to ensure we were able to continue to offer a wide range of activities to our children and young people, and the Yo! Summer offer will do exactly that.”
Philip Salisbury, Headteacher at Woodfield Primary School in Penn, said: “The Yo! activity programme brings new and exciting opportunities for our pupils to access during the summer.
“Having a range of things to do during the school holidays gives our children at Woodfield a chance to get involved, learn new skills, keep active, boost their self-confidence and, most importantly, have fun.”
As well as details of school holiday activities, the new online platform which was launched last as part of the Yo! brand – also offers children, young people and families support, advice and information on everything from mental health and wellbeing to education and careers.
