Planning permission has now been granted for housing developments at the former Warstones Resource Centre in Merry Hill and Woden Resource Centre in Wednesfield, along with new homes on the former Merry Hill House also in Merry Hill, which was given the go ahead earlier this summer.
The sites will include 2, 3 and 4 bedroom houses - and for the first time – 1 bedroom bungalows.
A contractor is due to be appointed in the next few weeks, with the first houses expected to be completed towards the end of 2020.
Councillor Peter Bilson, the City of Wolverhampton Council's Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for City Assets and Housing, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to create much needed new homes in the city.
“WV Living has not only increased the supply – and variety – of new homes but also matched them to local needs by offering a range of tenures, from market sale and rent to affordable homes and shared ownership.
“We are working hard to provide high quality homes for all. Listening to feedback from customers, this also includes bungalows for the first time at 2 of the 3 sites.
“This is an exciting time for new home construction in the city.”
The names of the new developments have been chosen to reflect connections to the local area. ‘The Glade’, formerly Warstones Resource Centre, ‘Vicarage View’, formerly Woden Resource Centre and ‘Leasowes Farm’, formerly Merry Hill House.
A total of 49 properties are planned across the three sites, consisting of 6 one bedroom semi detached bungalows, 9 two bedroom semi detached houses, 21 three bedroom semi detached houses, 9 three bedroom detached houses and 4 four bedroom detached houses. 5 affordable homes and 5 shared ownership properties are also part of the plans.
The 5 types of houses – The Beech, The Oak, The Elm, The Willow, and The Maple – have been named after trees as a nod to the Warstones location, which was formally a glade.
