Local training providers - working as part of the city's Carillion taskforce - have developed a package of support for staff at risk of redundancy in supply chain businesses affected by the Wolverhampton based company's liquidation.

The 'Response to Redundancy' package relates to Black Country businesses and has been developed by City of Wolverhampton Council, Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), Calderdale College, CPC training, Essential Site Skills, Gecko Programmes and Walsall College.

The offer includes one to one coaching and advice, access to vacancies, CV writing, interview preparation and how to apply for jobs online.

Legal, financial, health and wellbeing support is also available to affected residents through a network of local partners across the City of Wolverhampton.

Chair of the taskforce and City of Wolverhampton Council's Cabinet Member for City Economy, Councillor John Reynolds, said: "Small and medium-sized businesses - the life blood of our local economies - are often hardest hit in situations like this.

"We have already seen that some companies have had to let staff go.

"It is a very difficult time for those people who have lost jobs in the supply chain to Carillion and it is vital we support them in any way we can, in particular, in their search for a new job."
