The group will undertake face to face market research interviews with visitors in West Park this Saturday and Sunday (13 and 14 July, 2013) to investigate which attractions are the most popular and how the event can be developed for the future.
Last year more than 30,000 people attended the weekend's events and with good weather anticipated the students expect to be kept busy. The project will contribute to their business studies coursework and they will collate the results to help shape a report for the council based upon their findings.
Using a prepared questionnaire the group will explore attitudes to the show as well as wider issues around the council's leisure and cultural services provided at venues in the city centre.
Year 10 Student Amritpal Lelli said: "This is a really exciting opportunity and will give us valuable experience for our marketing unit; I'm looking forward to speaking to different people and finding out what they think."
Headteacher Jane Lockley explained: "As a school we work hard to make learning relevant; this is a great example of partnership working; the students have been planning this for several weeks and are well prepared, I am sure they will do a great job."
Councillor Elias Mattu, Wolverhampton City Council's Cabinet Member for Leisure and Communities, said: "With the smashing weather set to continue and some fantastic new attractions to see at this year's City Show, we're gearing up for a bumper attendance at West Park this weekend.
"We're looking forward to hearing what people think of the event, and what sort of attractions they would like to see that would make it even better in future."
