The 6 week 'Steps into Sports Coaching course' offers participants the opportunity to gain a Level 2 Principles and Preparation of Coaching qualification, Emergency First Aid, Customer Services and Children Safeguard training.
There are also opportunities to gain practical work experience and, for those trainees who successfully complete the programme, there is a guaranteed job interview with partner organisations, including Wolves Community Trust for the posts of Casual Sports and Inclusion Coaches.
The programme is organised by City of Wolverhampton Council's Economic Inclusion Team in partnership with Wolves Community Trust, City of Wolverhampton College, Black Country BeActive Partnership, Department for Work and Pensions, Street Games, Creative Academies, NPV Football Development, The Way - Youth Zone, and Catch 22.
Merry Hill resident, Cecelia Osakwe, gained employment with Wolves Community Trust on the previous programme.
The 34 year-old said: "After having my kids I took a long break from the work environment.
"Getting back into work became rather daunting. I signed up for the fast track sports coaching programme which gave me the skills and confidence to gain employment with Wolves Community Trust."
City of Wolverhampton Council Cabinet Member for City Economy, Councillor John Reynolds, added: "The Steps into Sports Coaching programme is a fantastic way of delivering qualifications, work experience and job opportunities for unemployed residents in Wolverhampton.
"As a council this is one of many initiatives we are involved in to work proactively with partner organisations to ensure that the most disadvantaged and excluded communities in the city are able to benefit from life changing opportunities."
An information session is being held on Wednesday 15 February at 2.30 pm, in the Billy Wright Stand, Molineux Stadium, Waterloo Road, Wolverhampton, WV1 4QR.
Anyone interested must be 18 years or over, unemployed, and a Wolverhampton resident.
