Pop Up Festival Presents, from Monday to Friday 14 to 18 June, celebrates some of the best writers and illustrators and is aimed at primary, secondary and special schools.
The summer showcase will feature over 20 workshops with a diverse group of bestselling and award winning children’s authors, including Julia Donaldson, Axel Scheffler, Sophie Anderson, A.M. Dassu, Jamila Gavin, Emily Gravett, James Mayhew, Karl Nova and Andy Stanton.
The workshops will be live streamed for free using Crowdcast, with workshops suitable for every age group from five to 16. Some of the workshops will be broadcast from museums and galleries, including National Maritime Museum, Greenwich and The Story Museum, Oxford.
Schools can book onto as many events as they like and are encouraged to register as soon as possible.
Councillor Dr Michael Hardacre, the City of Wolverhampton Council's Cabinet Member for Education and Skills, said: "This is a great opportunity for schools in Wolverhampton to be a part of what promises to be an excellent, week long showcase of children's literature."
Award winning author Andy Stanton said: “There's never been a more important time to get kids engaged with reading and great books. What an honour to be a part of this fantastic opportunity to blow a collective raspberry in the face of the past year!”
Bestselling illustrator Axel Scheffler added: “I am looking forward to joining Pop Up's celebration of children's literature and encouraging children to fall in love with reading, writing and drawing all over again this June.”
