Its annual open day takes place on Saturday 24 June, 2023, from 10am to 2pm, at its Old Hall Street headquarters in Wolverhampton city centre.
Visitors will be able to speak to staff about courses and careers, take a tour of the facilities, see a craft fair featuring work by students on its Setting Up a Creative Business course, take part in a range of have-a-go family activities and get information on travel, finance and student support.
Councillor Louise Miles, the City of Wolverhampton Council's Cabinet Member for Jobs and Skills, said: "Thousands of people from across the city join Adult Education Wolverhampton every year, and we're looking forward to welcoming many more this autumn as they take their first steps along the path to employment, a new job, a promotion or better health and wellbeing.
“Adult Education Wolverhampton courses offer many ways for adult learners to gain the essential skills required to either get a job or change career.
“Whatever your situation, the open day will give you the chance to speak to friendly and knowledgeable staff who can guide you onto a programme of study which is at the right level and suits your needs, interests and ambitions – so please come along and find out more.”
Former student Davide D’Angelo took an English for Speakers of Other Languages course at Adult Education Wolverhampton and is now living his dream.
He said: "When I first came to the UK, I spoke no English. I started work as a waiter in a local Italian restaurant and struggled to communicate even the basics.
"My vocabulary was very limited, to survive I had prompt cards which I kept in my pocket to remind me of things to say… it was a really difficult start!"
Today it's a different story. After improving his language and communication skills, he helped set up Siculo, a new Italian restaurant in Codsall where he runs front of house.
