The 74 students, aged between 15 and 18, are performing a total of 5 concerts at a series of international music festivals taking place near Palencia in Spain this week.
Wolverhampton Music Service provides tuition and musical opportunities for youngsters from schools across the city. Its 2 flagship groups - Wolverhampton Youth Orchestra and Wolverhampton Youth Wind Orchestra - are taking part in this week's Spanish tour.
Councillor Claire Darke, Wolverhampton City Council's Cabinet Member for Education, said: "Over the years, Wolverhampton has gained a well deserved reputation for the high quality of its youth orchestras.
"Because of this, we have once again been able to take part in festivals of real quality, and this is a real credit to the work and effort of the youngsters and staff involved."
