Trevor Pringle, chair of the Interim Executive Board which was introduced to boost standards at Palmers Cross Primary School in late 2014, has sent letters to parents and staff highlighting improvements which have taken place over the last 2 terms.
A further letter of thanks has been sent to staff from Elston Hall Primary School who have either been deployed at Palmers Cross or have been supporting the school in some other way over the past few months.
Wolverhampton City Council installed an Interim Executive Board (IEB) at Palmers Cross in November after an Ofsted inspection, which raised concerns about governance and attainment levels, found the school "required improvement".
The IEB brought with it robust governance arrangements which, with support from Elston Hall School, is raising standards, strengthening leadership and improving the quality of teaching and learning at Palmers Cross.
Improved learning outcomes are now being seen across the school, with achievements at Foundation, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 being "good".
Mr Pringle said: "This has been a particularly challenging year for the School and the Interim Executive Board are pleased to be able to report improvements in pupil outcomes. Children and staff have worked very hard and been fully supported by parents.
"We look forward to future sustained improvement as Palmers Cross continues on its journey to becoming an outstanding school."
The IEB is one of 4 which has been introduced to drive up standards at under performing schools in Wolverhampton.
Councillor Claire Darke, Wolverhampton City Council's Cabinet Member for Education, said: "I am pleased at the improvements we are seeing at Palmers Cross Primary School, and I'd like to pay tribute to the teachers, pupils and parents, with support from the Interim Executive Board and teachers from Elston Hall, for their hard work.
"I look forward to standards continuing to rise over the coming months, and am hopeful that the school will soon be in a position to receive an improved inspection rating from Ofsted."
