Work is underway to prepare Wolverhampton's 2 public paddling pools for the summer season, and they are due to open in time for the late May Bank Holiday weekend.
The linings of both Tettenhall Pool and East Park Pool have been cleaned and the pumping mechanisms tested. Any cracks which may have formed over the winter months have also been sealed.
Severn Trent Water carries out the time-consuming task of filling each pool. Tettenhall Pool holds 153,978 gallons of water, or 1,231,842 pints and because of its size will take nearly 4 days to fill, while East Park Pool holds 32,995 gallons, the equivalent of 263,960 pints.
Finally, the purity of the water needs to be laboratory tested before the pools can be officially opened to the public.
The pools are expected to open in time for the Bank Holiday Weekend, 27 to 29 May, and will remain open throughout the summer.
