The council has teamed up with Wolves Foundation to deliver Yo! Active, with the Foundation providing up to 40 hours of free activities every week at the council's WV Active leisure centres, community centres and other locations around the city over the next 2 years.
Yo! Active also offers free court bookings, swimming and gym sessions at WV Active. For more details, and to book places, please visit Yo! Active.
Yo! Active is available to all Wolverhampton residents up to the age of 18, or 25 for care leavers or young adults with special educational needs or disabilities (SEND). To take part, children and young people need to have a free WV Active account which can be created online through the WV Active website, by calling 01902 551010 or by visiting WV Active Aldersley, WV Active Bilston-Bert Williams or WV Active Central.
Councillor Jasbir Jaspal, the council’s Cabinet Member for Adults and Wellbeing, said: "We've had a fantastic response to the launch of our Yo! Active programme, which has built on the wide range of activities already available through our popular Yo! Wolves school holiday programme.
"It's great that over 1,000 children and young people have now signed up and are already enjoying the great range of free physical activities on offer to them at WV Active and with Wolves Foundation.
"I'd encourage other youngsters, parents and guardians to check out what is on offer and sign up for their WV Active membership so that they can enjoy free access to high quality physical activities through Yo! Active all year round."
Meanwhile, the Yo! Wolves holiday programme will return for this Easter, offering hundreds of free and low cost activities throughout the 2 week school holiday, including the Yo! Active programme. Find out more about what's on where at Yo! Wolves shortly.
