The weekly sessions at the leisure centre on Hugh Porter Way, Aldersley, have only been running for a fortnight but have been such a hit with families that from this Friday (9 October) they will take place between 6pm and 8pm, rather than 6.30pm to 8pm as planned.
Councillor Steve Evans, the City of Wolverhampton Council's Cabinet Member for City Environment, said: "We've been amazed by the response to these new sessions which have proved so popular that we are extending the running time to ensure that no one misses out.
"The last time Wolverhampton had regular roller skating sessions was around 30 years ago, so we weren't sure what sort of response we'd get - but when 300 people turned up on the first night and a similar number came along last week, we knew we had something very special on our hands.
"Roller skating is not only an excellent form of exercise, but also one that people of all ages and abilities can have a go at. We've also got some great music playing during the sessions, guaranteeing a fun packed evening."
The roller skating sessions take place every Friday night from 6pm to 8pm and cost £4 per person. Roller skates are available for hire for £1 a pair, though people can bring their own subject to an inspection to ensure they are in good working order.
