The Mayor of Wolverhampton Councillor Linda Leach hosted two Christmas parties this week to bring fun and festive cheer to more than 100 children from primary schools across the city.

The events, filled with laughter and excitement, were sure to be a memorable highlight of the season for the young attendees.

The children were thrilled by surprise visits from stars of the Grand Theatre pantomime, including Giant from the popular television show, Gladiators. Adding to the magic, Father Christmas and Rudolf also made special appearances.

The festivities were compered by local personality, Dicky Dodd, who kept the energy high with engaging games and activities. The children enjoyed a variety of festive fun, including music, a quiz and pass the parcel and delicious food, creating a memorable experience for all.

As a special treat, each child received a wrapped gift to take home, personally handed out by the Mayor and Father Christmas.

Mayor Councillor Leach, said: “It was an absolute joy to see the smiles and laughter on the faces of more than 100 children who came to our Mayoral Christmas parties.

“We try to ensure they have a wonderful time with a few surprises thrown in and I was thrilled that the Grand Theatre send over their panto stars to join Father Christmas and Rudolf this year.

“The screams of delight when Giant walked into the City Suite could probably be heard throughout the Civic Centre.”

The Mayor’s office would like to thank Marks & Spencer, Tesco and The Works for donating items to make the parties extra special.
