#SmallGoodThings takes place at the Bob Jones Community Hub in Blakenhall next week, and aims to not only give people the chance to find out about the help and support available from voluntary and community groups, but also share the little things they do which can make them - and others - feel better.
More than 30 local groups have signed up to take part in the inaugural event, including community organisations, charities and health and social care providers.
Councillor Roger Lawrence, Chair of Wolverhampton's Health and Wellbeing Board, said: "We know that even little things can make a big difference to a person's quality of life.
"The aim of #SmallGoodThings is to celebrate the many small, good things going on in and around Wolverhampton, highlight the steps people can take to help themselves and others, and encourage individuals and organisations to think how they could make a real difference to other people's lives.
"I would like to invite people to join us at the Bob Jones Community Hub on Valentine's Day for what promises to be an uplifting and inspiring event."
The day will feature a series of presentations from individuals and groups about the #SmallGoodThings they do, drama presentations and workshops on a range of subjects including mental health and wellbeing and setting up your own community group or organisation.
There will also be demonstrations of self help resources such as Type=links;Linkid=7314;Title=Wolverhampton Information Network;Target=_blank; - a one-stop shop packed with help, advice, ideas and information for individuals, families, communities and service providers - and speed dating style session through which people can get to know more about what's on offer in the city.
There will also be a marketplace where over 30 local organisations will be showcasing their services. Among those taking part are WV Active, Wolverhampton Voluntary Sector Council, the University of Wolverhampton, the Healthy Lifestyles Team, NCT Wolverhampton, Wolves Community Trust, Alzheimer's Society, the Carers Forum, Wildside Activity Centre, West Midlands Police and Old Tree Nursery.
Also taking part will be SUIT, African Caribbean Community Initiative, Aspiring Futures, Compton Hospice's Compassionate Communities Project, Gatis Community Space, Wolverhampton Telecare, the City of Wolverhampton Council's Welfare Rights Service, Wolverhampton Healthy Minds, HealthWatch Wolverhampton, Community Pathways and Enable, the council's Disability Employment Team.
Ian Darch, Chair of Wolverhampton's Inclusion Board, said: "#SmallGoodThings is about empowering people to improve the health and wellbeing of themselves and other people by celebrating the ways in which we can help one another, for instance checking on a neighbour who is housebound, offering to walk someone's dog for them when they cannot, arranging a social event or even helping to sort out a problem which is troubling someone."
"#SmallGoodThings takes place at the Bob Jones Community Hub, Bromley Street, Blakenhall, on Tuesday 14 February. There are 2 sessions, one from 10am to 1pm and another from 1pm to 4pm. Entry is free and refreshments will be available throughout the day.
