The Multiply courses are designed to give people the maths knowledge, skills and confidence they need to help improve their financial wellbeing.
The Multiply team are currently running taster sessions with Family Hubs staff covering 4 different themes: Shop Smart, Spend Less; Debt and Health – Protect yourself, Fuel Poverty – Be energy efficient; and Look to Cook – Meal preparation and planning .
They will then be able to pass on tips and tricks to visitors to the Family Hubs over the coming weeks.
Councillor Jacqui Coogan, the City of Wolverhampton Council’s Cabinet Member for Education, Skills and Work, said: “Adult Education Wolverhampton launched its Multiply courses last year to help residents through the cost of living crisis by growing their confidence in dealing with everyday money matters, and they have proved very popular.
“Many people are currently experiencing financial difficulties, and it is important that they have the essential skills they need to help them manage those challenges as best they can.
“The courses have been very popular, and by working with staff at the Family Hubs, Adult Education Wolverhampton will be able to share these key skills even more widely.”
Family Hubs act as ‘one stop shops’, offering guidance and advice on a range of circumstances to support families through pregnancy and beyond, including infant feeding, mental health and wellbeing, health visiting support and parenting classes.
They also provide a wide range of other services, including stay and play sessions, birth registrations and help and advice on benefits and welfare rights, getting into work, relationship building and stopping smoking.
