The City of Wolverhampton Council's Carer Support Team is holding an information day at the Bob Jones Community Hub, Bromley Street, Blakenhall, on Friday 25 November, 2016, from 10am to 2pm.
There, carers and the people they care for will be able to meet the Carer Support Team and speak to a range of other organisations about the support they can get to carry out their caring role.
The event will also highlight a new guide produced by the Association of Directors of Adult Social Care Services for employees and employers, with local employers encouraged to find out how they can better support carers in their workforce.
An estimated 27,500 people in the city care for a friend or relative, with many unaware of the help they are entitled to.
Councillor Sandra Samuels OBE, the City of Wolverhampton Council's Cabinet Member for Adult Services, said: "Anyone who has cared for a loved one will know how incredibly hard this role is and it's tremendously important that our carers are given the help they need to succeed.
"We don't want carers to think they have to struggle on their own - there is help and support out there, whether it be emotional, financial or practical help, and this Carers Rights Day information event is a fantastic opportunity to find out more about the support that is available to them here in Wolverhampton through our Carer Support Team and other agencies."
