The week begins with 'Model Cities from the Future', participants in this £2 session will use weird and wonderful recycled materials to create their own futuristic city with buildings, roads parks and homes. Drop in between 11am to 2pm on Monday 18 February. The cost is £2 per participant.
The Gallery's 'Baby Bears and Carers' sessions usually cost £4 but on Tuesday 19 you can try them for free. The hour long session gives babies and toddlers a safe space to explore a range of exciting sensory materials.
'Art Animation' on Wednesday 20 is a full day workshop led by the award winning animators from Birmingham's Yamination. This masterclass will see participants learn how to bring their own illustrations and doodles to life to create fantastic animations. It runs from 10.30am to 4.30pm, costs £25 and is suitable for young people aged 14 to 21. Places are strictly limited so please book in advance at Ticketmaster - Wolverhampton Art Gallery.
Joining the workshop will be stop-motion animator Tim Allen. Tim has worked as an animator on a number of feature films including Tim Burton's The Corpse Bride, and Wes Anderson's Fantastic Mr Fox. He was also a key animator on Isle of Dogs, which is nominated for the Best Animated Feature Oscar. Tim has a wealth of experience across the industry and is always keen to engage and inspire new animators.
Yamination will be back at the Gallery on Thursday 21, from 11am to 12.30pm for 'Animation Play'. This drop-in workshop costs £5 per child and will give users more of a flavour of the world of animation and a fantastic little film by the end of the session.
Drew Roper of Yamination Studios said: "We love getting out in to the community and inspiring children and young people to get involved with animation and Wolverhampton's Light House is where it all began for us.
"There are loads of affordable tools that people have that make it easier than ever to produce your own little masterpieces. We just want to help ignite that creative spark."
The week wraps up on Friday with 'Famous! Celebrity Pop Party' (11am to 3pm). Inspired by the vibrant Pop Art works on display in Pick of the Pops this day will be a riot of colour and fun with face painting, celebrity dressing up and a child friendly disco. Tickets cost £5 per child and includes all activities.
All of the activities are linked to the Gallery's stunning exhibitions including Lost Wolverhampton: The Drawings of John Fullwood, Hand Drawn Action Packed and Pick of the Pops. All are currently free to visit and are open from Monday to Friday (10.30am to 4.30pm) and Sundays (11am to 4pm).
