Inspectors visited Springdale Primary School in Warstones last term and found that headteacher Janice Hopkins, her leadership team and governors have "worked tirelessly to create a successful primary school".
Leaders provide "strong support" across the school which is helping improve outcomes for children, with more pupils now working at the standards expected for their age.
Inspectors found that the curriculum at Springdale ensures pupils access "a breadth of experiences and opportunities", and that the teaching of reading is a high priority across the school. Teachers have "good subject knowledge and increasingly high expectations of what pupils can achieve".
In particular, children in early years benefit from "high quality teaching and a wealth of engaging activities" which help them "make a positive start to their school life", while pupils with special educational needs or disabilities are very well supported and make good or better progress from their individual starting points.
The children themselves behave well, are proud of their school and show good attitudes to learning. Safeguarding is effective, with pupils feeling safe and knowing that adults are there to look after them.
Springdale Primary School was formed in 2018 following the merger of Springdale Infant and Junior Schools. Inspectors found that staff are positive about the changes that have taken place and are proud to work at the new school.
Mrs Hopkins said: "Everyone connected with Springdale Primary is immensely proud of this positive report which recognises the hard work in successfully merging a school. The inspectors were able to experience first hand pupils' good behaviour and the calm and purposeful atmosphere within school."
Councillor Dr Michael Hardacre, the City of Wolverhampton Council's Cabinet Member for Education and Skills, said: "This is an excellent report for everyone connected with Springdale Primary School.
"Historically Springdale Infant and Junior Schools were entirely separate, so it is testament to the hard work of Janice Hopkins and her team that the merger has been so smooth and that the new school is delivering improved outcomes for its pupils."
