Young people from across Wolverhampton are being invited to celebrate national PlayDay 2013 at Bantock Park on Wednesday (7 August, 2013).
The park will be transformed into a series of interactive themed play places aimed at children aged up to 12 at the free event, which runs from 11am-3pm.
For the younger visitors there will be a Toddler Village featuring activities provided by the city's children's centres including messy play, storytelling, singing, arts, crafts and nursery rhymes.
And for the more adventurous, attractions include an area where children can make their own dens or tackle a low ropes course with cargo nets, traversing ropes and rope swings. There is also a cycle route around the park, a cycling assault course and specially adapted bikes available for those with disabilities.
Children can practice their circus skills with skipping ropes, parachutes, hop scotch and hula hoops in a free play area or toast marshmallows in the outdoor cooking space.
The PlayDay event has been organised by the city council's Play Service, children's centres and Early Years team, and there will also be a range of stands offering information and advice to parents.
Councillor Val Gibson, Wolverhampton City Council's Cabinet Member for Children and Families, said: "This promises to be a fantastic free event for children and their families, and we're keeping our fingers crossed that we'll have some great weather as well.
"As well as visiting the PlayDay event, I'd encourage families to spend some time in enjoying the fabulous surroundings of Bantock Park, which also includes a lovely café and excellent children's play area."
