From Sunday until the end of November, the gallery will be displaying 3 winning posters created by primary school pupils Elena Kalinowska, 11, Nina Czubara, 9, and Cleo Dinham-Mears, also 8, to highlight the importance of staying healthy this winter.
It follows a competition held earlier this term as part of the new Bug Busters campaign, which will be launched next month to highlight the things children can do to protect themselves against winter viruses like the common cold, flu and norovirus.
Visitors to the gallery next week will be invited to design their own posters which will be displayed alongside the winning competition entries in the Making Space, just off the main atrium.
Councillor Jasbir Jaspal, the City of Wolverhampton Council's Cabinet Member for Adults and Wellbeing, said: "We had some great entries for the competition, and we are delighted to be showcasing 3 of the best in the Making Space area at Wolverhampton Art Gallery until the end of November.
"We're encouraging children and young people who are visiting the art gallery over half term to create their own pieces of artwork to help reinforce our messages about winter health, which will be displayed alongside the winning competition entries, so please come along and have a go.”
She added: “Throughout the year, we are exposed to many different viruses – but particularly so in winter when the common cold, flu and norovirus rule the roost.
“To help stop the spread of viruses this winter, please ensure your children wash their hands before they eat or drink, after they have been to the toilet or when they sneeze or blow their nose, and are up to date with their childhood immunisations, including their free flu vaccination at school.”
