One of the Black Country's oldest fairground families makes history when it stages Wolverhampton's first Fiesta this weekend.

The Harry Jones Company is holding the 2 day Wolverhampton Fiesta in West Park on Saturday and Sunday (16 and 17 July).

It promises a range of entertainment including hot air and night glow balloons, extreme stunt riders, Punch and Judy, the best traditional fairground rides and food and trade stalls.

Tribute acts Only One Direction, Rihanna Fully Loaded and Beyonce Queen B will entertain audiences on a music stage with both afternoon and evening shows.

The Harry Jones Company, based in Thompson Avenue, Parkfields, has been providing fairground entertainment in the Black Country for more than a century.

Twenty four year old Harry Jones, whose great grandfather started the business with a simple coconut shy in 1893, said: "Our family is well known in the Black Country for fairground rides, but this is the first time in our history we are doing an event like this.

"Over 2 days we are providing not just our well loved fairground rides but also live entertainment with 3 great tribute acts, some amazing night glow hot air balloons and breath taking displays by motorcross stunt show teams to name but a few.

"We want to give families looking for a day out some great entertainment on their doorstep."

Councillor John Reynolds, the City of Wolverhampton Council's Cabinet Member for City Economy, said: "The Jones family have been providing fairground entertainment for generations.

"It's great that they are hosting this fiesta in West Park and I hope plenty of families will come along to enjoy the funfair and all the other attractions."

The Wolverhampton Fiesta takes place at West Park from 12pm to 8pm on Saturday and Sunday (16 and 17 July). Entrance is £3 for adults, £2 for children. Additional charges apply.
