The annual event was organised by the City of Wolverhampton Council's Fostering for Wolverhampton team who laid on games and a picnic for foster families in Wolverhampton at Bantock Park on Friday (2 August). They were also given exclusive access to Jollies Inflatable Fair, which opened to the public the next day.
More than 150 people joined in the fun on the afternoon, which is just one of the several social events organised throughout the year for foster families who are part of Fostering for Wolverhampton, the council’s fostering service.
They offer an opportunity for foster families and children in care to meet up, spend time and have some fun together during the school holidays.
Councillor John Reynolds, the City of Wolverhampton Council’s Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, said: "We had a wonderful afternoon at Bantock; it was great to see the children and foster carers relaxing and having fun in the park.
“The annual picnic is just one of the many events we hold for our fostering community throughout the year. It’s an opportunity to bring everyone together – foster carers, children and staff – and have a fun afternoon.
"It’s also a chance for us to give something back to our many foster carers, who do such a good job looking after children in care, and I'd encourage anyone who is interested in becoming a foster carer to visit Fostering for Wolverhampton or call us on 01902 551133."
