People in Wolverhampton are being encouraged to open their heart and share their world through a new city wide fostering campaign.

Fostering for Wolverhampton is hoping more households will take on this life changing role in 2019 - and are encouraging people who are interested in fostering to attend a drop-in session to find out more.

They will be taking place at the following locations:

  • Monday 21 January - Mander Centre, fostering information shop on the ground floor by Bodycare, 10am to 3pm

  • Tuesday 22 January - Fostering Bus, Bentley Bridge car park, 10am to 3pm

  • Tuesday 22 January - Molineux Stadium, 6.30pm to 8pm

  • Wednesday 23 January - Asda Wolverhampton, 10am to 3pm

  • Thursday 24 January - New Cross Hospital, by Greggs, 10am to 3pm

  • Friday 25 January - Waitrose, Penn Road, 10am to 3pm

  • Saturday 26 January - Mander Centre, fostering information shop on the ground floor by Bodycare, 10am to 1pm

Councillor Paul Sweet, the City of Wolverhampton Council's Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, said: "We have many highly committed and dedicated residents in Wolverhampton who provide the best care for our most vulnerable children and young people.

"If you have a desire to help children and think you could foster, then please get in touch. The Fostering for Wolverhampton team will be out and about across the city next week looking to meet more potential foster carers and introduce them to this truly life changing experience.

"Please call in at one of our events and find out more from our Fostering for Wolverhampton team and hear first hand from some of our wonderful foster carers themselves."

Foster carers can be single, married or in a relationship and help and support is available 24 hours a day. Placements can be anything from a few days to a number of years, and they receive a regular, tax exempt allowance to cover the cost of bringing up the child.

Foster carers receive six months' support from experienced carers who will guide them through the system, and the Fostering for Wolverhampton will provide intensive support for the first 6 weeks of a placement and every month thereafter.

Anyone who cannot attend one of the drop-in sessions is invited to find out more by visiting Fostering for Wolverhampton, by calling 01902 551133 or searching "Fostering for Wolves" on Facebook.
