Representatives from businesses, the Midland Aerospace Alliance, University of Wolverhampton and the council will attend the Paris Air Show to promote the city sector to the global market.
The show, being held today, (Monday 17 June) and Tuesday 18 June, is the biggest event of its kind in the world and will see 2,000 exhibiting companies from 46 countries, more than 200 official delegations from 88 countries and over 130,000 trade visitors.
Despite the current economic climate, aerospace is a growth sector. In March, the Government pledged £2 billion funding to help create 115,000 jobs across Britain and create a UK Aerospace Technology Institute.
In Wolverhampton, around 2,000 people work in the industry with a total turnover of £300 million for city companies.
The Paris Air Show will give the delegation the opportunity to forge even stronger links with companies from abroad and open up new business opportunities.
The council will support companies attending the event while showcasing the investment sites and opportunities currently available in the city, such as i54 South Staffordshire.
Councillor Peter Bilson, Wolverhampton City Council's Cabinet Member for Economic Regeneration and Prosperity, said: "Wolverhampton is an aerospace city and this event is hugely important for us.
"We will be promoting the city, as well as the wider region, as a key investment location and demonstrating what we have to offer to the global market.
"It will also give us the chance to gather more information on aerospace sectors from across Europe, opening up potential new markets.
"It is vital that the council supports the city's aerospace companies and show the world that we are open for business."
Stuart McLachlan, Moog's Business Unit General Manager, said: "We are delighted that Wolverhampton City Council is demonstrating its commitment to the industry by attending the Paris Air Show.
"Moog's global capability will be represented at the air show and will include capability offerings from our new facility in Wolverhampton.
"We are pleased to be working with the council and other local partnerships to promote the city as a great place to do business. This strong partnership approach can only help to give potential new investors added confidence in the city."
