Long Knowle Community Hub is being created by modernising the existing library and community centre building on Wood End Road, and will offer library and information services as well as community and youth facilities and refreshment facilities.
People can find out more about what is planned at the special drop-in events taking place on Saturday (7 September, 2013) between 2pm to 4pm and Tuesday (10 September, 2013) from 2pm to 5pm.
Extensive renovation work will be taking place over the coming months, including the creation of an open plan layout and entrance ways, flooring, roof and ceiling repairs, internal and external redecoration, the installation of a new kitchen and the replacement of the building's ageing heating system.
Community groups will still be able to use one of the 2 community rooms throughout the work, and the city council is investigating options for the temporary re-provision of the library service.
Councillor Elias Mattu, Wolverhampton City Council's Cabinet Member for Leisure and Communities, said: "The work is expected to take approximately 5 months and so we wanted to make sure that local people were aware of the changes that were happening and that they had the opportunity to ask questions of those involved."
Local organisations played an instrumental part in the Community Design Group which has shaped the proposals for the new hub, which is scheduled to open in early to mid 2014.
Councillor Mattu added: "This is one of the first in a network of hubs which we are developing across the city which seeks to protect important services by bringing them together under one roof.
"I'd urge people to take this opportunity to find out what is proposed and to get involved in the development of their hub - we hope that they will like what they see."
