#SmallGoodThings takes place at the Bob Jones Community Hub, Bromley Street, Blakenhall, from 10am to 4pm on Tuesday 14 February, 2017.
It is an opportunity for people in Wolverhampton to find out more about service providers, voluntary and community groups, but more importantly to share the little things they do which can make them - and others - feel better, and to inspire people to either take up offers of help or think about what they can do to support others.
Councillor Roger Lawrence, Leader of the City of Wolverhampton Council and Chair of Wolverhampton's Health and Wellbeing Board, said: "We know that even little things can make a big difference to a person's quality of life.
"This can be taking part in an activity or going on a day out, developing a new hobby or interest or simply enjoying social interaction, which many people go without on a regular basis.
"The aim of this event is to celebrate the many small, good things going on in and around Wolverhampton, highlight the steps people can take to help themselves and others, and encourage individuals and organisations to think about the things they might be able to offer that could make difference or that communities could learn from each other."
Ian Darch, Chair of Wolverhampton's Inclusion Board, said: "#SmallGoodThings is about celebrating the ways in which individuals and active groups can help one another, for instance checking on a neighbour who is housebound, offering to walk someone's dog for them when they cannot, arranging a social event or even helping to sort out a problem which is impacting on someone's quality of life."
#SmallGoodThings will feature a marketplace where organisations can promote their services alongside a range of interactive events to share ideas, including a speed dating style session where individuals, community groups and organisations can get to know more about what's on offer in the city.
Organisers are keen to hear from groups and individuals who would like to showcase their services or have an inspiring story to share at #SmallGoodThings or on Type=links;Linkid=5929;Title=Wolverhampton Information Network;Target=_blank; - a one stop shop packed with help, advice, ideas and information for individuals, families, communities and staff from local services big and small.
For more information, and to get involved, please call 01902 555407 or 01902 550148 or email peoplelt@wolverhampton.gov.uk.
Councillor Lawrence added: "This event will not be a one off - it is very much the next step in empowering people to improve the health and wellbeing of themselves and other people.
"We intend to follow this with a series of community roadshows where we will be able to further promote the wide range of help, support and activities which is available in our local neighbourhoods."
