The deadline for applications is Wednesday 31 October, 2018, and around three quarters of parents and guardians of pupils who move into Year 7 in September 2019 have already submitted theirs. Those who haven't yet done so are urged to complete them as soon as possible.
Councillor Lynne Moran, the City of Wolverhampton Council's Cabinet Member for Education and Skills, said: "If your child is due to make the move to secondary school next year, you should now be applying for a place for them.
"Nearly 75% of parents have already completed their applications, but many have not yet started, while around 250 have begun their applications but have not yet submitted them.
"The process is quick and easy, and ensuring applications are made before the deadline next week will increase the chances of securing a place at a preferred school."
To apply for a school place, parents should log on to Type=articles;Articleid=2548;Title=School admissions; and complete the short application process by 31 October, 2018. Parents and guardians will be notified of their child's allocated school place on 1 March, 2019.
Applying online has a number of benefits. The applications are made through a secure website and they can be viewed and edited online up to the closing date of 31 October, 2018. In addition, online applicants can access their child's school place allocation online on 1 March, 2019 rather than having to wait for a letter in the post.
