It's now even easier to access information about Wolverhampton City Council with the introduction of a new web portal and app.

Wolverhampton City Council has launched a new committee and decision management system, called modern.gov.

It replaces CMIS and contains a wealth of information relating to council business, including agendas, reports and minutes from a variety of meetings, a calendar of meetings and details about individual councillors and MPs.

As well as being used by councillors and council employees, members of the public and others are able to use modern.gov to find out more about the work of the council - and they can also use the modern.gov app, available from the App Store and Google Play, to view, download and annotate meeting papers and other documentation. Users can set alerts to be notified when new papers are available.

Wolverhampton City Council's Head of Democratic Services Martyn Sargeant said: "We want to make it as easy as possible for people to find out about the work of the council, and so we have been working hard to improve our committee and decision management system.

"modern.gov offers a number of benefits - not only is the web portal very user friendly, but people can also download a free app to access information on their smartphone or tablet."

The council says that the introduction of modern.gov will meet its ambition of modernising and developing its committee management system. It will also realise savings of approximately £10,000 which it otherwise would have incurred as a result of the further development of the old CMIS system, as well as reducing the number of paper copies of documents that are printed.

modern.gov is available Type=links;Linkid=3321;Title=here;Target=_blank;, while the free app can be downloaded from the App Store and Google Play - search for "modern.gov".

More than 200 organisations including local authorities already use modern.gov to assist them with their democratic duties.
