The Matrix quality standard is a kite mark awarded to organisations that provide information, advice and guidance either as a core component of their service offer or as part of their wider provision.
The Connexions Centre in Salop Street provides guidance and support for young people looking for work and training and the team also work in all Wolverhampton's secondary schools and Pupil Referral Units.
It has been recognised for its leadership and management, resources, service delivery and continuous quality improvement.
The Matrix assessor highlighted the overall commitment of the service to supporting the varying needs of young people and the 'tenacity' of its personal advisers in helping youngsters overcome barriers to employment.
One young person was quoted as saying Connexions support was 'way more than just careers guidance' and had really made a difference in their life.
The assessor also praised the ways in which Connexions staff are supported in the development of their professional information, advice and guidance skills, and the overall importance of reflective practice within the service.
Councillor John Reynolds, the City of Wolverhampton Council's Cabinet Member for City Economy, said: "Feedback from the assessor was extremely positive and the Wolverhampton Connexions team are fully deserving of this honour.
"Supporting our young people in education and skills is one of the key priorities for the city.
"And the Matrix standard is an important and valued endorsement of the services Connexions provide."
The Matrix standard is awarded for 3 years, with annual continuous improvement checks.
Wolverhampton Connexions Centre is open every weekday between 1.30pm and 4.30pm, except Wednesdays. You can also call 01902 773040 for support and advice.
