Wolverhampton Art Gallery is hosting a free St George's Family Fun Day this Saturday (21 April) from 11am to 2pm featuring a range of drop in activities in the Georgian Room including the chance for visitors to create a beautiful English rose.
Meanwhile the Les Hall Brass Band, led by musical director Malcolme Read, will be performing a range of music to please all tastes from 11am to 11.45am and again from 12.15pm to 1pm.
People can also celebrate St George's Day in Bilston town centre on Saturday from 11am to 2pm. Jim Duncan and the Black Country Brass Band will be playing patriotic tunes, and there will be free fun fair rides, family craft workshops and children's entertainment.
The City's libraries are joining in the fun with free activities for children, including Baby Booktime and story and craft sessions at Spring Vale Library this Friday from 10am to 11am and Whitmore Reans Library this Friday from 2.15pm to 2.45pm, along with special Storytime sessions for overs 5s at Central Library on Saturday from 12.15pm to 1pm and for under 4s at Warstones Library on Tuesday 24 April from 2.30pm to 3pm.
There will also be a St George's Day themed Chatterbooks reading group session for children aged 7 to 11 at Warstones Library on Tuesday 24 April from 3.30pm to 4.30pm.
St George's Day remembers England's patron saint, who according to legend slayed a dragon and saved a princess. The anniversary of his death, which is on 23 April, is seen as England's national day.
