Inspectors visited the Pendeford school in July and found that pupils 'share and embody' its motto of 'spread your wings, learn new things, fly as high as you can'.
In their report published recently, they say that governors, leaders and all staff 'share an ambition and passion for every child to do their best'.
Staff set 'high expectations' of how well pupils learn and, in turn, they 'demonstrate highly positive attitudes to learning and are keen to meet the expectations their teachers set'.
Leaders have a clear vision for the curriculum at Dovecotes, and prioritise the teaching of reading. But the curriculum goes well beyond the academic, with the school providing 'meaningful, well considered opportunities for pupils' wider personal development'.
All staff support pupils with special educational needs or disabilities (SEND) effectively and expect them to do well, ensuring they receive the support they need.
The behaviour of pupils 'is a strength', with the approach of leaders to managing behaviour through restorative conversation 'proving very successful'. Pupils are described as being 'polite and helpful' and enjoy 'very positive' relationships between one another, and with adults.
Pupils show empathy for others, and this contributes towards the school's 'warm, supportive culture'. Indeed, inspectors found that 'smiles are everywhere at this school'.
Children are 'happy and safe' at Dovecotes, are 'proud of their school and appreciate how caring and supportive the staff are'.
Inspectors rated the overall effectiveness of the school Good, within the five inspection areas – quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, leadership and management, and early years provision were all rated Good.
Headteacher Tracy Challenor said: "We are thrilled that inspectors recognised that Dovecotes is a happy, safe and nurturing school to grow up in.
“We are very much a family and work hard to make sure that all our pupils thrive working in partnership with our parents, carers and governors. Dovecotes Primary is a very special place and I thank everyone involved in making the school such a huge success."
Councillor Jacqui Coogan, the City of Wolverhampton Council’s Cabinet Member for Education, Skills and Work, said: "This is a very positive report for Dovecotes Primary School and it is particularly pleasing to read how happy its pupils are in school, and how kind and supportive the children are to one another.

Latest figures show 89% of schools in Wolverhampton are now rated either Good or Outstanding, above the regional and national average. In addition, 9 in 10 Wolverhampton pupils attend Good or Outstanding schools, the best in the West Midlands.
