Staff from the City of Wolverhampton Council's public health team and NHS staff from across the Black Country will be available between 9.30am and 4pm to speak to members of the public while representatives of Macmillan Cancer Support will be on hand offering help and advice for people living with, and beyond, cancer.
People will be able to get information on how to check for symptoms of cancer and what to do if they have any concerns. There will be an opportunity to try interactive body parts to help people check themselves, while cancer nurses will be on hand to answer any questions people may have.
There will also be information about the 3 main NHS screening programmes, for breast, bowel and cervical cancer, including when people will be invited and what's involved in the screening, and between 10am and 3pm visitors will be able to check their health with a free blood pressure and blood sugar test.
In addition, people will be able to access advice and support on cancer at a special pop up market stall at Bilston Indoor Market on Thursday 24 April, 2025, between 9am and 2pm.
Councillor Jasbir Jaspal, the council’s Cabinet Member for Adults and Wellbeing, said: "This is part of a series of events taking place across the region to raise awareness around cancer, and I would encourage anyone who has any questions about the signs and symptoms of cancer, screening, diagnosis and treatment to come along to speak to our friendly staff."
