Art Teachers can go back to the classroom and update their drawing skills thanks to new informal classes being held at Wolverhampton Art Gallery.

Gallery staff are organising monthly tutored and untutored life drawing classes aimed at teachers and sixth form students aged over 18.

The sessions from 4.30pm to 6.30pm are on the third Wednesday of every month and start on 20 September, when professional belly dancer Alexis Southall will model.

At each session the Lichfield Street gallery will provide models, easel drawing boards and basic drawing equipment. Teachers can take additional drawing materials if needed.

Moving figure sketches, proportion and a mix of shorter and longer poses will be covered in the two hour sessions.

City of Wolverhampton Council, Cabinet Member for City Economy, Councillor John Reynolds, said: "These classes are informal and aimed at giving art teachers the chance to enhance their skills, meet up and enjoy drawing at the gallery."

Places are limited and booking is essential with priority given to the Art Teacher Network. Untutored sessions cost £8 and tutored sessions £10.
