A major international sports event arrives in Wolverhampton tomorrow (Friday 13 September), and it’s completely FREE for everyone to attend.

Some of the world’s best athletes, including Team GB BMX Freestyle Riders Dylan Hessey and Sasha Pardoe, will put on a show at Old Market Square between the 13 to 15 September as part of the FISE Xperience Series, featuring competitions including BMX Park, Scooter Park and Breaking.

Organised by Hurricane Group in partnership with the City of Wolverhampton Council, the event is completely free for Wolverhampton residents and visitors to the city to attend.

Councillor Chris Burden, City of Wolverhampton Council Cabinet Member for City Development, Jobs, and Skills said: “The FISE Xperience event in Old Market Square is family-friendly and free for everyone to attend, I’d encourage everyone to get along.

“It is an exciting major international sports competition in our city featuring Team GB BMX Freestyle stars Dylan Hessey and Sasha Pardoe.

“It boosts our 5 year events strategy, helping to secure Wolverhampton’s status regionally, nationally, and internationally as a destination of choice for visitors.

“The series will further boost footfall, increase economic and social benefit, and help transform the reputation of the city.”

The international sports competitions will take place after the City of Wolverhampton Council secured £390,000 worth of funding, from the West Midlands Combined Authority as part of their HM Government’s Commonwealth Games Legacy Funding.

The event has also received £91,000 from the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
