Residents and businesses are being asked to give their views on draft plans for new development that will help transform their area.

A consultation event on what happens next at Bilston Urban Village will take place on Thursday, 25 April from 2pm to 8pm, at the Bert Williams Leisure Centre, and will give people the opportunity to have their say.

The leisure centre and South Wolverhampton and Bilston Academy are the first two developments that have been completed on the Bilston Urban Village site.

A draft planning document has been prepared which people can look at and comment on the Bilston Urban Village website.

People have until 30 April to give their views on the draft plan.

Some of the main issues to be discussed at the special consultation event include:

*What people want to see on the site next to the Bert Williams Leisure Centre

*With 625 new homes planned, what sort of properties people think Bilston needs

*How the open space in the area, including land around Carder Crescent can be improved

Councillor Peter Bilson, Wolverhampton City Council's Cabinet Member for Economic Regeneration and Prosperity, said: "These are exciting times for Bilston.

"We have already seen the wonderful Bert Williams Leisure Centre open while the new South Wolverhampton and Bilston Academy truly is a spectacular 21st century school.

"Now, it's important that Bilston residents and businesses find out more about what is planned for the future and that we give them the chance to help shape the final proposals."
