Visitors to Blakenhall Community and Healthy Living Centre can get into the festive spirit on Friday (13 December, 2013).

The centre, on Bromley Street, is hosting a Christmas carol service followed by light refreshments, including mince pies, and a sale of unique handcrafted wooden items made by Wood 'n Stuff.

They include bird boxes, Christmas decorations and pots - all of which make for perfect presents for Christmas. Also on sale will be aprons and shopping bags.

Wood 'n Stuff is a social enterprise company based at Sunbeam Community Enterprise and Timken Training. It is run by sixth form students who have been designing and manufacturing products since September as part of their formal training.

Councillor Elias Mattu, Wolverhampton City Council's Cabinet Member for Leisure and Communities, said: "This is a great opportunity for people to enjoy some traditional Christmas carols and also check out the excellent work of Wood 'n Stuff - perhaps even picking up a Christmas gift or two."

The event begins with carols at 10.30am and the sale is due to end around 1pm.
