The City of Wolverhampton Council is urging students to make sure they stay safe and think ahead when organising nights out now Freshers’ Week is underway.

Students can visit our stall at this year’s Freshers Fair at the Main Campus, City Centre, Wolverhampton until 4pm today to pick up key tips on how to Get Home Safe.

Councillor Steve Evans, Council cabinet member for city environment, said: “It’s great to see so many new students finding out all about the many things Wolverhampton has to offer and I’d encourage them to get out and about and explore.

“However, it’s vital that everyone also stays as safe as possible which means planning ahead and pre-booking your taxi for later on when you’re ready to call it a night. Non licensed minicabs can be dangerous and are illegal; if there's no booking, there's no record of your journey in case there are any problems. A handy city centre map highlighting our taxi ranks so you know where your closest one is if you’re already out. Enjoy the City, but please make sure you Get Home Safe.”
