Children and young people can now book their places on the City of Wolverhampton Council's exciting new free physical activity programme, Yo! Active.

The council has teamed up with Wolves Foundation to launch Yo! Active, which will see the Foundation deliver up to 40 hours of free activities every week at the council's WV Active leisure centres, community centres and other locations over the next 2 years.

Yo! Active, which is now underway, also offers another 10+ hours per week of free swimming, including family fun, SEND and tots swim sessions, along with gym sessions and court bookings at WV Active.

It is open to residents of Wolverhampton aged up to 18, or 25 for care leavers or young adults with special educational needs or disabilities (SEND). For details, and to book places, please visit Yo! Active

To take part, eligible children and young people need to create a free Yo! Active subscription by creating a free WV Active account. Please note, WV Active accounts for under 16s must be created by a parent or guardian. Accounts can be created either online through the WV Active website, by calling 01902 551010 or visiting WV Active Aldersley, WV Active Bilston-Bert Williams or WV Active Central.

The subscription then needs to be activated in person at one of the 3 WV Active leisure centres - please bring proof of eligibility, such as proof of address, to a WV Active site. Valid documents to prove residency include a Council Tax bill, driving license or utility bill. Young people with SEND who are 18 and over should bring proof of Personal Independence Payment, or Disability Living Allowance, while care leavers should provide a letter from their Young Person Advisor.

Councillor Jasbir Jaspal, the council’s Cabinet Member for Adults and Wellbeing, said: "We've had a great response to the launch of our Yo! Active programme, bolstering the wide range of activities already available through our phenomenally successful Yo! Wolves school holiday programme.

"I'd encourage youngsters, parents and guardians to check out what is on offer and sign up for their free Yo! Active subscription so that they can book their places and enjoy access high quality physical activities all year round."

Luke Shearing, Community and Cohesion Manager at Wolves Foundation, added: “We are delighted to launch Yo! Active and it has been positive getting out to different WV Active centres to offer free activities to engage with young people.

“Wolves Foundation staff will be at all of our Yo! Active sessions to help with the sign up process, so we’d love to see more children join us and get involved.”

Meanwhile, the Yo! Wolves holiday programme will return for the February half term holidays, offering hundreds of free and low cost activities throughout the week. Find out more about what's on where at Yo! Wolverhampton Young Opportunities shortly.
