Code of Conduct
The council has a duty to promote and maintain high standards of conduct by elected members.
To do this the Localism Act 2011 requires the authority to adopt a code of conduct which sets out what is expected of members of the council acting in their capacity as councillors. The code can be read below:
If you wish to complain about the conduct of a member of the council, you must submit your complaint, in writing, to the monitoring officer:
Director of Governance,
City of Wolverhampton Council,
St Peters Square,
Your complaint will be investigated by the Monitoring Officer and following this investigation may be considered by the Standards Committee. The decision of the Monitor Officer and/or the Standards Committee is final and there is no further avenue of complaint. If you are unhappy with the outcome of the process you are advised to seek your own legal advice.
