Become a volunteer for children and young people in care
Our volunteer service has been set up to provide friendly support for children, young people and their families/carers.
We aim to:
- Give children, young people, parents and carers support
- Support children/young people who are in care
- Provide support to carers who look after children/young people who are in care.
What volunteering positions are available?
- Independent Visitor - This involves meeting a child/ young person on a Saturday or Sunday once a month for about 1-3 hours. You would contribute to the welfare of the child or young person to promote their developmental, social, emotional, educational, religious and cultural needs.

How are volunteers chosen?
Once the Co-ordinator has received your application form she will send for your references, then if she thinks you may be suitable you will need to attend an interview.
If you are successful at interview then all necessary checks will be carried out , including a CRB police check. Full training, Induction and guidance will be provided for both positions.

Become an Independent Visitor for a child or young person in care
We are currently recruiting Independent Visitors to add to our excellent volunteer team.
What is an independent visitor?
The Independent Visitor's role is voluntary and contributes to the welfare of a child or young person to promote their developmental, social, emotional, educational, religious and cultural needs.
An Independent Visitor may encourage them to exercise their rights and to take part in decisions that will affect them.
Will I be trained?
Yes, you would be trained and go through a process that will match you with a child or young person who is currently on an interim care order or full care order.
