Inspector Bogusia Matusiak-Varley visited Eastfield Nursery School on Griffin Street late last year and found that its leadership team had maintained the "outstanding quality of education" since its last inspection in 2012.

In her report, she concluded "all groups of children make outstanding progress in relation to their starting points", leaving nursery as "confident and independent learners" who are well prepared for Reception.

The school has created an "exceptionally caring ethos" in which children are "highly motivated to learn". Headteacher Emma Smith has provided "visionary leadership", appointing staff who bring a wealth of experience to help ensure children "get the best access to high quality learning experiences".

The curriculum is "rich and varied, with purposeful play at the core of all learning". Tasks are matched to children's needs, ensuring they make excellent progress in their time at Eastfield Nursery.

With the help of the City of Wolverhampton Council, the school is further refining systems for tracking the progress of children from their starting points, and, with the support of governors, has invested heavily in creating an "excellent" outdoor classroom where children have the opportunity to develop their skills further.

Mrs Matusiak-Varley found that parents are "overwhelmingly supportive of the school", and can see that their children develop not only academically, but socially too. Parents are confident the school does "everything possible to ensure their children are safe, happy and healthy".

Miss Smith said: "I am proud to lead a team of dedicated and committed staff who work tirelessly to provide the best outcomes for the children and families of Eastfield Nursery.

"As a result, children leave our school having made exceptional progress, well prepared for the next stage of their education. I am delighted that Ofsted has recognised the school's achievements and the hard work of the staff team."

Councillor Claire Darke, the City of Wolverhampton Council's Cabinet Member for Education, said: "It's great to see that yet another school in Wolverhampton has demonstrated to Ofsted the outstanding support it is providing to our City's young people.

"Congratulations to Emma Smith, her team and everyone associated with Eastfield Nursery School on this excellent report - and for achieving an Outstanding rating for the fourth successive time."
