Elgin, powered by Google Maps, is used by a number of other local authorities across the country and is the preferred solution of the Department for Transport.
Wolverhampton will be the first Black Country authority to use the full version.
It will enable road users to easily search for current and planned road works in Wolverhampton as far ahead as a year.
New aspects of the Elgin system will be introduced in the coming months such as making diversionary and winter gritting routes visible to users.
Access to what the UTC's CCTV cameras are showing is also on the horizon, as well as being able to view what the traffic information boards around the city are saying.
Councillor Steve Evans, Cabinet Member for City Environment, said: "Elgin makes use of the latest technology to provide a one-stop shop for people to plan their journeys.
"It complements the systems we already have in place at the UTC and will make our traffic management more efficient.
"Most importantly, it will help keep the city moving for the people of Wolverhampton."
The system also provides access to bus timetables and offers the option of email alerts for a user's mapped area.
